Read this, take it in & learn! There is SO much more to fishing then just catching- the bonding, the experience, the memories, the fresh air, the outdoors/nature, the lessons…there is more to fishing then just catching!

Although, it feels sooo good to catch that limit, to feel the tug of the rod, to reel up that big fish…it is not always what the trip is about…there are many important reasons to go fishing..not only the reasons I listed above…for some peace, to catch up on ones thoughts, for mental health, for physical health… It is not all about catching- no matter how good the rush is, when you are fighting a big red, or reeling up that spectacular trout, or bass, or cat, or sheepshead…

That being said…gather your family- your son, daughter, wife, husband, sig. other, grandma, grandpa, aunt, uncle, cousin, niece, nephew- your friends, whomever you might choose…or, simply, take a trip by yourself for some peace… there is no better trip than a trip on the water, absorbing all nature has to offer.

Even though catching is not the most important thing about fishing, everyone can catch a limit of reds in Delacroix! Trout are still a little harder to come by but not impossible! Captain Jack went out to find some trout today, however he had to bring the boat in for some maintenance..so, he did not get to test out the trout bite. He is hoping to test it out with Gracie & I- Sierra- ASAP. I, personally, can’t wait to see my baby girl enjoy the day on the water-the happiness that being outdoors brings her is the most thrilling thing for a parent to witness…I don’t care, if we don’t catch a single fish. However, I do hope to reel in some dinner, atleast. & I do enjoy the rush of outfishing Captain Jack! 😏😉

Fishing, overall, has been pretty good. The redfish are biting really good. Captain Jack went out yesterday. They stopped at one spot & immediately, caught their limit of 10. So, they went around scouting & checking out some other spots. They caught some more reds everywhere they went & threw them back, ofcourse…they, also, caught 2 freshwater cats, around 25 Ib each..crazy big! If you want to catch some beautiful freshwater catfish, they are biting all over, especially if you fish on the bottom. A few people that fish Delacroix,religiously, have been catching trout around Fourhorse & that general area. As soon as this water warms back up, the trout fishing should pick up pretty good! It has been pretty cold lately, and there are still people catching a few. As far as live shrimp, we have been having a few here and there. The shrimp issue should resolve, when the water warms back up, as well. Sorry we haven’t been writing reports lately, but the weather hasn’t been on our side. We have plenty of beautiful live shrimp for tomorrow! If you have an opportunity, come on down! Tomorrow should be a good day. It looks like it will be warming up a little each day this week. That sounds good for trout fishing! Come on down, get your shrimp & go catch some fish! Good news- we got a good load of live shrimp in today! If you are coming tomorrow, come get some live shrimp from Sweetwater! We have plenty for tomorrow. Today, there were a lot of redfish brought in. There were a few handfuls of trout. So, if you are coming tomorrow, come early. Try for trout first thing..if you don’t catch them, then go catch your limit of reds! Captain Jack took out Joshua & crew today- they hit the docks with their limit of reds and some freshwater cats. Sorry that we didn’t have bait the last few days,  but this time of the year catching bait gets tough. We hope to see you all soon & hope you all have a happy new year! Attention guys: we do not have live shrimp or dead bait for tomorrow! We do have minnows. So, pick up your shrimp on the way down! Campos has live shrimp, or you can probably try one of the places on parish road. If you get an opportunity, come launch with us. Trout fishing was ok today. Most caught at least 10-12 trout. A couple of other groups of customers in the 30’s – one group with 37. The weather should be warmer tomorrow, so that means the trout bite should be even better. I would definitely try to make it down tomorrow to catch some beautiful trout. The redfish are always biting and pretty much everywhere, so those aren’t biting. At least you know, if you make the trip, you will catch something! As always, we can’t wait to see ya here at Sweetwater Marina!

Today Captain Jack & his charter
caught 20 reds, 3 catfish and 2 bass. He took out Mr. Corey Roussel, his son, Reese, and Reese’s two buddies. Reese was a 2019 little league World Series champion. They had a great day of red fishing. They smashed the reds. They finished their limit at around 11am, but they sat there catching and releasing..making their own championship fishing matches. It was a world class day. Captain Jack always tries to go above and beyond for his charter customers. Even if they finish catching their limit early, he tries to make sure they have a fun filled day of fishing. He doesn’t just return to the dock immediately after the limit is caught. Catch and release is a great thing. We are sorry about the shrimp situation, but we should have it figured it out by the end of the week..whether we can continue to find them here in Delacroix or if we are going to have to start picking them up. So, if you are coming, make sure to pick up bait on the way down. However, we definitely appreciate you guys still launching with us. Captain Jack took out Mr. Mark Barre’s group today! They had 21 reds, 17 trout & 3 sheepshead! It was a beautiful day out on the water! The fish were biting great! Tomorrow should be another great day of fishing, so come on down! We have plenty of live bait, & we hope to see ya tomorrow! The reds are biting everywhere! & the trout are biting pretty good too, since the weather warmed up- we posted all of the hotspots yesterday, so check the out! Don’t pass up on the great fishing!
