Sunday/Tuesday fishing

Sunday, Captain Jack took out Mr. Reed Marine, his son in law, Josh, his granddaughter & grandson. They had a great day. They caught 19reds & missed 4-5 big ones that got off. They all had a great time & said they would be coming back real soon.

Today, Captain Jack took out Mr. Douglas Biggs, his son, Odis & his brother, also Odis. They went catch redfish. They had to come in early, at around 11:30am, to beat the rain. However, they caught 12 reds & lost a few big ones, again today.

Monday- Captain Jack met Aj- the Louisiana Fishing Produce Man. He makes YouTube videos of him fishing, and he launches here at Sweetwater. He is a good fisherman. When Jack met him, he was cleaning another limit of trout. Go check out his videos!

As far as trout, they have been catching tons of specks down here in Delacroix. They would probably be catching even more, if we had live shrimp, which we are trying to get going ASAP!

That lodge is coming along quickly & beautifully. Before you know it, we will have a lodge that looks completely brand new! Can’t wait to share pictures, as soon as we finish. Can’t come quick enough!

We do have some openings that can be filled within the next few weeks! Call 504-342-2368 to book! Come get in on the speck & redfish action! As always, we can’t wait to see ya here at Sweetwater Marina!

Redfish on reds by noon

Captain Jack fished with Mr. Don Diekhaus & his three buddies for the past two days. & They made the red fishing happen. They finished fishing, both days, at around 12:30pm. Yesterday, they left at 12:30pm, because they forgot their ice chest with their food/drinks. Yesterday, they caught 17 reds- then, left early because of the lack of food and drinks- other than Jacks “stash waters” he stores in his boat. Today, they ended up with their limit of reds. Overall, the redfishing was good. Other customers went to trout fish today. We had scattered reports. We had charter captains with limits, some customers with 25-30 per boat. It just depends who you talk to. Ofcourse, there are always those few that return empty handed. The trout fishing still seems to be pretty good. We heard a lot of the trout are being caught in deeper holes- fishing on the bottom..however, they had some customers using popping corks. Unfortunately, we don’t have live shrimp. As far as plastic, we have seen a variety of colors of plastics being used on poles & a lot of Ghost shrimp. Captain Jack has been using clear- matrix-Magneto color. We have dead bait.

I’m sure we won’t see a lot of fisherman tomorrow morning, due to the crazy weather. If you get an opportunity, come tomorrow afternoon, Sunday or during the week. Once the wind lays down, the trout fishing will be even better.

Good news- we are working on the lodge. It is getting put back together rather quickly. It sucks, because we have lost money with the units being out of commission. Soon, they will be back and better than ever..waiting for you guys to come check them out! As soon as they are done, I will make a post -& If I told you that we were booked for future dates, you can call and snag the 3 brand new units!

Hopefully, we will be making a trip out on our shrimp boat this week to catch some live bait. 🤞🏼

Shoutout to Campos Marina with hooking us up with all of the great dead bait!

We will keep you all updated!

See yall soon!

Tuesday/ Wednesday Charters

Great fishing for Thad, Kenny & Will yesterday. They fished with Captain Jack & caught a limit of reds and some fresh water cats. They threw back some & kept a couple. They had lots of fun. Then, for the grand finale- Captain Jack, Will, Thad, Kenny, Gracie & myself -Sierra- had dinner at Meme’s, in Chalmette. They prepared some delish & beautifully displayed dishes, with the fresh fish we brought in. We, also, had some of their fabulous oysters, ofcourse! Gracie ate over half a dozen by herself, at 3 years old- absolutely delicious! Thanks again Thad, Kenny & Will for being great friends & great customers. We look forward to their visits.

Today, Captain Jack took out the Edwards group. They caught 33 trout & twelve beautiful reds. They had lots of fun. Captain Jack taught them a lot of stuff about redfishing, and they said that the lessons were priceless to them.

Tomorrow Captain Jack will be taking out Mr. Don Dickhaus & group. Hoping for a good day and some wiggle room around the weather.

Captain Jack is fishing through Saturday.

We have been having issues with getting dead bait right now. We have a few cocahoe minnows left. No live shrimp. We will update you, immediately, if the bait situation changes at all. Live shrimp should be coming in the very near future, although we cannot pinpoint an exact date, as of right now.

So, that being said- we hope to see you all soon! As always, we can’t wait to see ya here at Sweetwater Marina, the Marina that loves our customers.

Also, we had some lodging become available for Saturday night. If you would like to book, please call 504-342-2368.

Captain Jack took out his Buddy, Kenny, today from Arkansas. They ended up with their limit- 50 beautiful trout. They caught trout in chocolate milk-the dirtiest water you could imagine. However, the trout seem to be biting everywhere. Each spot that they fished, they caught trout. Other people that fished out of Sweetwater today did well with trout, as well. Sorry guys, but we will not have any dead bait or live shrimp tomorrow. We WILL have minnows tomorrow! If you get a chance to fish, the trout fishing is really great. Don’t let the chocolate milk water intimidate you. Fish your normal hotspots, and you’ll most likely catch trout. The weather should be getting better during the week. Which means, the water should clear up day by day. That should result in even better fishing. So, come on down & get in on the action. As always, we can’t wait to see ya here at Sweetwater Marina, the Marina that loves our customers.

Trout before the wind! 🌬

They had some really great trout fishing today out of Sweetwater. Captain Jack had some buddies send him some pics, he took a couple pics of customers ice chest & Capt. Calvin caught a nice load. It was beautiful, until around 12pm. Although we only launched around 8 boats today, It looked like some good fishing. Guides did good with reds today, as well. The customers Captain Jack talked to said the water was absolutely beautiful today. Seems like today was a good morning to be on the water. However, it’s going to be fierce for he next few days. We hope to see you guys, after this weather passes through.
