01/04/2016 Fishing Report

January 2016 by CaptainJack

We launched about 20 boats today at Sweetwater Marina on Delacroix Island and from what Tony said it seemed like a lot of those folks came back with nice numbers on the Speckled Trout. Live shrimp or Matrix Shad on the bottom are the winning combo right now. As for where, off of Oak River between Pencil Pipeline and Orange Bayou seemed to be the spot today. We would also like to start the year off by mentioning again what a great deal SEATOW is. 504-301-4545. Breaking down or getting stuck is never convenient, but having SEATOW makes it less of an inconvenience. But more than that, especially with this cold weather, it’s a safety thing. It’s good piece of mind to know that someone will be there to get you with out too long of a wait. They are familiar with the area and they have all the equipment that might be needed to get you back home Safe. So come on down to see us and catch some fish at Sweetwater Marina on Delacroix Island, and while you are here ask to check out our lodging. It’s the best deal in Delacrolix – sleeps 6, free launch, kitchenette, cable, wifi. BBQ pit – all for just $159 a night. Just wake up and fish. Whatever you need to make your fishing trip a success, we probably have it in our baitshop, including maps and helpful tips from Mr. Ronnie and Tony and pick up a Sweetwater sweatshirt too keep you warm. Anything we can do to help make your trip fun, successful and safe – just ask. We will have plenty of live shrimp and we would love to see you, so come on down to Sweetwater, the marina that loves their customers. And remember we are the second launch. Big reds in Delacroix

Today the fishing was a good bit better than yesterday. Plenty of Specked Trout came in today out of Oak River, caught by anglers fishing on the bottom with live shrimp and Matrix Shad. For tomorrow it’s supposed to be sunnier and warmer, so the fishing should be even better than today. And for anyone interested in catching some Redfish – one of our customer’s who is staying with us in our lodging at Sweetwater Marina has done really well for the last few days catching over 25 Reds a day using only artificial bait. They are visiting us from Florida and said they can’t believe how great the Redfishing is here. 12/31/2015 Fishing Report

December 2015 by CaptainJack

Capt. Jack went on his first hunt of the year this morning and unfortunately it wasn’t as good as his first day back fishing was on Tuesday. Thanks to Jeff and Beau, the richest guys on Delacroix Island, for taking him. They shot at more ducks than they got (especially Jack), but a fun day hunting with good friends is a great way to end 2015. 2015 has been a great year at Sweetwater Marina and that is in no small part because of our amazing customers. It was a difficult year at times, but thanks to all of you and our amazing staff at Sweetwater Marina we came through it with flying colors and can’t wait for 2016. Hopefully for 2016 the El Niño pattern will lighten up so we can get back in on some of that Speckled Trout fishing that the marshes of Delacroix Island are so well known for. The Trout are here, we just need the weather to cooperate a little. HAPPY NEW YEAR and we hope to see you soon. And while you are here ask to check out our lodging. It’s the best deal in Delacrolix – sleeps 6, free launch, kitchenette, cable, wifi. BBQ pit – all for just $159 a night. Just wake up and fish. 12/15/2015 Fishing Report

December 2015 by CaptainJack

Today Capt.Jack had the pleasure of fishing with his great friends Dr. Jimmy Heintz, his son Dr. Jonathan Heintz, his daughter and Dr. Amy, and on a scale from 1 – 10 today was about a 5. It was Capt. Jack’s first time fishing since his surgery 3 weeks ago and he couldn’t have asked for a better group to share it with. They set out from Sweetwater Marina at about 8:15 and made it back by around 2:15 with 80 Specks and 2 Fresh Water Cats. They moved around a lot, catching the first 60 Trout scattered all over and on the way back in they spotted a bunch of boats in Little Lake and stopped and caught about 20 2lb plus Trout in 30 minutes. Most of the fish were caught on live shrimp and matrix shad about 2 1/2 feet under a popping cork. The water wasn’t too good today and that’s probably why they had to move around so much. Timage imagehe weather isn’t looking too great for the next couple of days, but if it isn’t too windy and there is no lightening you should give it a shot. And while you are here ask to check out our lodging. It’s the best deal in Delacrolix – sleeps 6, free launch, kitchenette, cable, wifi. BBQ pit – all for just $159 a night. Just wake up and fish. December 2015 by CaptainJack

The last couple of weeks have been just unbelievable and we are happy to report that there is no end in sight to this amazing streak of fishing. Today overall was a little slower than normal for the last two weeks, but that just means lots of 1/2 limits as opposed to limits. Out of 28 groups launched, 2 groups had limits. Most reported having a mixed bag of Trout, Reds and Black Drum with quit a few reporting half limits. The problem today seemed to be cloudy water because of the wind yesterday. But for tomorrow the forecast looks great for fishing. Light wind, no rain and mild temps. After the rain passes through Wednesday and Thursday some cooler weather should be on the way and that should make for another unbelievable weekend. So start planning . your week end trip now. And while your here just ask and we will show you our lodging. It’s the best deal in Delacroix – sleeps 6, free launch, kitchenette, cable, wifi. BBQ pit – all for just $159 a night. 12/09/2015 Fishing Report

December 2015 by CaptainJack

Believe it or not, from what we heard today the fishing was Spectacular again today on Delacroix Island. The reports were almost the same today as yesterday and the day before. The trout are every where scattered throughout the Delacroix marshes. Standout spots again are Oak River, Pointe Fienne and Skippy Lake. And live shrimp under a popping cork is the bait to use. We aren’t saying you can’t catch any fish on plastic, but live shrimp really is the best bait to be using. Hopefully Capt. Jack will be out of the hospital in the next couple days and back at Sweetwater by sometime next couple of weeks. But until then we will keep checking in with our great Captains, our staff and some of our regulars to keep bringing you reports from Sweetwater Marina. And while your here just ask and we will show you our lodging. It’s the best deal in Delacroix – sleeps 6, free launch, kitchenette, cable, wifi. BBQ pit – all for just $159 a night.
